When Kevin Schwantz joined the 500cc Pepsi Suzuki team in 1988 he made an immediate impact by winning his first Grand Prix at the opening round in Suzuka, Japan. Hailing from Texas, Kevin quickly rocketed to prominence as one of America's best road racers during the mid 80's, this earning him a factory ride onboard the RGV500 in 1988. Kevin retired from GP racing in 1995 with 25 wins and 51 podiums from 105 starts. The late 80's and early 90's are remembered as one of the most competitive eras of GP racing with a field rich in talent.
